Alexander Fleming of Virginia
1. James IV, King of Scots = Isabel Stewart
2. Janet Stewart = Malcolm Fleming, 3rd Lord Fleming
3. John Fleming, 5th Lord Fleming = Elizabeth Ross
4. John Fleming, 1st Earl of Wigtown = Lilias Graham
5. John Fleming, 2nd Earl of Wigtown = Margaret Livingston
6. Captain Alexander Fleming of “Westfalia”, born circa 1612, married thrice, immigrated to Virginia in 1650, and died in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia between 30 December 1668 and 13 March 1668/69, leaving issue.
While not entirely implausible, more proof is needed concerning the paternity of no. 6. At present it rests solely upon the claims of his descendants in the eighteenth century to be heirs to the Earldom of Wigtown, combined with the presence of a son Alexander at the appropriate point in the Wigtown family, but this is a shaky basis for any pedigree.
